RECRUITMENT OF NON TEACHING STAFF
(FEMAL STAFF NURSE/CATERING ASSISTANT/LABORATORY ATTENDANT) FOR JAWAHAR NAVODAYA VIDYALAYAS UNDER HYDERABAD REGION.
Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education & Literacy, Govt. of India, invites applications from eligible Indian nationals for filling up of vacancies and drawing a panel of candidates for the posts of FEMAL STAFF NURSE/CATERING ASSISTANT/ LAB ATTENDANT, on DIRECT RECRUITMENT BASIS in the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas located in various districts of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Union Territories viz., Pondicherry, Andaman & Nicobar and Lakshweep Islands.
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are co-educational, fully residential schools up to Senior Secondary level and are located mainly in rural areas. At present 73 JNVs are functioning all over the Hyderabad Region. They being fully residential institutions, the Non Teaching staff is required to stay in the Vidyalaya Campus. In addition to normal duties, the non teaching staff is required to perform additional responsibilities attached with residential system of schooling like escorting of students on migration and looking after students` welfare in general. During the period of probation of the incumbent performance in all these areas is also assessed, in addition to the job ability to determine his/her suitability for the job.
Details regarding essential and desirable qualifications for various categories of posts, Pay Scales, Age limit Relaxation of age, Mode of Selection and other related details are given below. Reservation for various categories viz. SC,ST,OBC & PH will be provided as per the Govt of India instructions.
1)FEMALE STAFF NURSE:-
A. PAY SCALE : Rs. 9300-34800 (Grad Pay Rs.4600)
B. UPPER AGE LIMIT : Up to 35 YEARS (As on 01.01.2013)
C. QUALIFICATIONS:
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A) Passed Sr. Secondary Examination (Class XII) or equivalent and
B) Grade `A` (Three years) Diploma /Certificate in Nursing from a recognized Institution.
OR
1) B.Sc. (Nursing) from a recognized University /Institution.
2) Registration with Indian/State Nursing Council.
3) Practical experience of two years in Hospital/Clinic.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
(i) Working knowledge of Hindi/regional Language and English.
2) CATERING ASSISTANT:
A. PAY SCALE :Rs. 5200-20200 (Grade Pay Rs.2400)
B. UPPER AGE LIMIT : Up to 35 YEARS (As on 01.01.2013)
C. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
1) Secondary School (X class pass), and
2) Three years Diploma in Catering or equivalent from an institution recognized by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India/State Govt.
OR
Passed Sr. Secondary (Class XII) from CBSE with Hotel Management and Catering as Vocational subject and at least one year experience in catering.
OR
Passed Sr. Secondary (Class XII) or equivalent and one year diploma in catering or equivalent from a recognized institution with three years experience in catering in reputed institution/hotels.
OR
Trade proficiency Certificate in Catering with a minimum of 10 years service in Defence Services of regular establishment (for Ex-servicemen only.)
3) LABORATORY ATTENDENT:
A. PAY SCALE :Rs. 4440-7440+Grade Pay Rs.1400/-
B. UPPER AGE LIMIT : 18 To 30 YEARS ( As on 01.01.2013)
C. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS : Middle Pass with General Science.

5) BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED FOR THE ABOVE POSTS IS AS UNDER:
i) Female Staff Nurse: Nurse shall be incharge of first aid and sick room of the of the vidyalaya and shall look after its maintenance. She will assist the Medical Officer during his/her visit to the vidyalaya and carry out instructions given by him/her with regard to the treatment of the patients, if any. She will maintain a record of all the children who report sick and the treatment given to them, if any. In the event of child requiring specialized medical treatment, the Nurse shall immediately inform the principal. Nurse shall keep a record of medicine purchased. Nurse shall also visit the vidyalaya mess daily to guide Catering Assistant to maintain proper hygienic conditions in and around the dining hall and dormitories and to give suitable dietary instructions in case of sick students. She shall be the ex-officio member of the Mess Committee of the vidyalaya. To take care of all cleanliness in the vidyalaya premises. She shall carry out any other duty assigned by the Principal. She shall maintain a regular clinic with necessary first aid.
ii) Catering Assistant:- To manage the Mess of the vidyalaya under strict hygienic conditions. To formulate daily menu considering local conditions/customs/tastes/ availability. To provide special diet (as recommended by Nurse/MO) to sick children. To prepare and submit requisitions of provisions for Mess to the Principal/Competent Authority. To assist in the procurement of provisions as per laid down purchase procedure. At the time of taking delivery of material purchased, he should ensure that the material received are counted, measured or weighed, as the case may be. He should also ensure that the quantities received are correct. Their quality good and they are according to approved specifications. Catering Assistants should exercise utmost economy and ensure that wastage of food is reduced to minimum. To maintain mess stock/stock register and issue register. To receive and issue provisions, to cooks as per the menu and the number of dining members. To supervise cooking and to inspect preparation menu before they are served. To put up list of consumable/non consumable items for writing off as per rules. To look after maintenance of Mess, Dining Hall, Utensils, Cutlery, Crockery etc. To look after cleanliness of mess and its surroundings. To assign duties to Mess staff with the approval of the Principal and supervise their working. To keep a watch on discipline and turn out of mess staff. To arrange periodic medical check up of the mess stag and maintaining such records. To perform any other duty assigned by the Principal.
iii) LABORATORY ATTENDANT:- Cleaning of laboratory and dusting of its furniture. Maintenance of laboratory furniture including its polishing and painting. Maintenance of Botanical Garden, Forgery, Aquarium etc. in the Vidyalaya. Cleaning, setting and arranging of apparatus in the laboratory under the guidance of concerned teacher. Carrying the apparatus to classroom as required by the concerned teacher. Minor repairs of apparatus. Collecting material (including frogs etc.) for practical work. Making local purchases for laboratory and for the Vidyalaya as directed by the concerned authority. Maintenance of proper stock registers of the laboratory. Reporting of any accidental damage or loss of apparatus to the in charge of the laboratory. Making arrangements for the functions exhibitions etc. organized in the Vidyalaya under the guidance of the concerned in charge. Assisting examination incharge of the Vidyalaya during examination days. Any other work assigned by the Principal of the Vidyalaya. Whenever laboratories are closed or there is no work in the laboratories, the Laboratory Attendant will be attached with the Administrative Office of the vidyalaya so that their services can be utilized for miscellaneous work of the Vidyalaya.
6)Age Relaxation : Maximum Relaxation in upper age limit will be as under:-
i) Upto a Maximum of 05 years in the case of SC/ST candidates.
ii) Upto a Maximum of 03 years in case of OBC candidates.
iii) Upto a Maximum of 10 years (15 years for SCs and STs, 13 years for OBCs) in respect of Physically Handicapped persons.
iv) An Ex-Serviceman who has put in not less than 06 months continuous service in the Armed Force (Army, Navy and Air Force) Shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his/her actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the Maximum age limit prescribed for the post of more than 03 years he/she shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit.
v) Upto a Maximum of 05 years in the case of NVS regular employees & other specified categories of persons in accordance with the orders issued in this behalf from time to time by the Central Government.
Note : No Candidate will be accorded age relaxation unless he/she produces the requisite certificate alongwith his/her application for the recruitment to the post.
7)General Conditions for Appointment :
1. A qualifying written examination of all eligible candidates will be conducted. Shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
2. Selected candidates are liable to be posted/transferred any where in India . It may be noted that almost all the Vidyalayas are located in rural areas.
3. Candidates who are already in service are required to submit their application through proper channel only. However, advance copy of the application can be sent to avoid delay. Their candidature shall be considered only on receipt of their application through proper channel.
4. Samiti reserves the right to fix up criteria for calling candidate for interview. Mere eligibility will not vest any right to the candidates for being called for interview and decision of the Samiti in this regard will be binding for all concerned.
5. Number of the vacancies are tentative and subject to change.
6. Selected candidates will be on probation for a period of two years which may be extended for a further period of one year subject to the performance of candidates. During the probation period, services of probationer can be terminated at any time without assigning any reason.
7. Staff Nurse, Catering Assistant and Lab Attendant in Navodaya Vidyalayas are considered as vacational staff (Non-teaching).
8. Application complete in all respects in the prescribed format given below (neatly typed preferably in English on plain paper approximate size 22 cm X 30 cm) accompanied by a Crossed Demand Draft of requisite fee as mentioned in column (8) should be sent to the Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Regional Office, 1-1-10/3, S P Road, Secunderabad(AP) – 500 003, within thirty days time from the date of publication of this advertisement. The candidates are required to submit the copies of mark sheet of each year and certificates of Diploma/Degree courses failing which the application will be treated as incomplete and rejected summarily. Applications received after the expiry of the last date mentioned above (i.e. thirty days from the date of publication of the advertisement) will not be entertained. The Samiti will not be responsible for any postal delay”.
9. Second class rail fare by shortest route on production of proper receipt will be paid to SC/STs candidates only for attending the interview as per the rules of the Samiti.
8) Application Fee :
1. Candidates will have to pay a Non Refundable Fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five Hundred only) by Crossed Demand Draft in favour of “ Deputy Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti”, Payable at Hyderabad/Secunderabad alongwith his/her application. Candidates should note that the fee sent through IPO/Money Order/Crossed Cheque/Currency Notes or Treasury Challans etc. will not be accepted by the Samiti and such applications will be treated as without fee and will be rejected summarily. Separate fee is to be paid for each post applied alongwith the application and necessary enclosures.
2. Refund of fee will not be allowed in any case.
3. The Bank Draft should be valid for atleast six months and should not have been purchased prior to the date of publication of this advertisement.
4. No fee is required to be paid by SCs&/STs/Ex-Servicemen Categories and women candidates. Physically Handicapped persons are also exempted from payment of fee subject to submission of prescribed Medical Certificate issued by a government Hospital, duly signed By CMO.
(9) Guidelines for Filling up the Application Form:
1. The candidate must fill in the application form in English/Hindi as per the format given in the advertisement on plain paper “Approx. size 22 cm X 30 cm in duplicate” There is no objection to candidates using printed/typed Application Form. However, they should ensure that its format is exactly the same as published in the advertisement. If wrong entries/mistake/omission are made by the candidate in their application form on account of wrong or inaccurate printing/typing of application form by private agency/ their application shall be liable for rejection.
2. The envelope containing the application form must be superscribed in bold letters as Application for the post of “…………………….…..……………………………………..”
(10) Documents to be Attached with the Application :
1. A crossed Bank Draft Rs. 500/- in favour of “Deputy Commissioner/ Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti”, payable at Hyderabad/Secunderabad.
2. Date of Birth in Christian Era as per High School/Matriculation certificate ( Proof of date of birth ).
3. SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate in the prescribed proforma issued by the competent authority.
4. 8th Class mark sheet in case of LAB ATTENDANTs.
5. 10th Class examination certificate/mark sheet
6. Higher Secondary/Intermediate (Class-XII) examination certificate/mark sheet.
7. Diploma/Degree qualification (Marks Sheets of all years are to be attached in case separate year-wise mark sheet are issued by the concerned University/Institution).
8. No Objection Certificate from the present employer in case of serving personnel.
9. Experience Certificate (s).
10. Any other relevant documents.
11. Two recent passport size photographs.
