Casual Urdu News Readers

Essential qualifications                  The applicant should be (i) Graduate with Urdu as one of the subjects or (ii) Equivalent course of Adeeb-e-Kamil or (iii) Graduate along with Urdu medium at School level studies.

Desirable                                      1.    Diploma in Mass Media in Urdu.

2.   One years working experience in Urdu News presentation or as Compere of Urdu Current Affairs programmes or conducting general programmes in Urdu on TV. Candidate should be well versed in Urdu script being the fundamental requirement.

 Age                                                    Below 35 years which can be relaxed in case of candidates, being booked regularly by All India Radio as News Reader/ Translator/ Announcer.

Written Test                                       40 Marks – to test Urdu language/knowledge / skills especially in context of news stories.

Audition Test                                    40 Marks -5- minutes Urdu News reading to judge performance, pronunciation and voice quality.

Interview                                        20 Marks

Casual Voice Over Artists

 Essential qualifications                 The applicant should be (i) Graduate with Urdu as one of the subjects or (ii) Course in journalism/mass communication in Urdu.

Experience                                       One year working experience in translation of scripts/stories from Hindi or English into Urdu in a Newspaper, Radio or electronic media.

      Written Test                                      30 Marks – to test language skills in context of news stories.

      Audition Test                                    10 Marks-5- minutes Urdu News reading to judge voice and pronunciation.

      Interview                                       10 Marks

          The applicant may note that working on casual assignment basis for Doordarshan News will not confer any right for regularization of services in this Organisation. The booking will be offered from time to time on the basis of the requirement and will not exceed 7 days in a calendar month. The candidates who have already applied and submitted their application earlier, need not to apply again now.

          A non refundable processing fee of Rs.300/- for General category and Rs. 200/- for SC/ST/OBC candidates will be charged. The Bank Draft in favour of Drawing & Disbursing Officer, Doordarshan News, New Delhi, payable at New Delhi may be sent alongwith the application..

          Application alongwith necessary enclosure should reach the Senior Administrative Officer, at Room no 434, 4^th Floor, Doordarshan News, Doordarshan Bhavan, Phase II, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi, on or before 25.09.2012. The envelope containing application should be superscribed with ‘Application for Urdu News Reader or Voice Over Artist’ on Assignment basis.

After initial scrutiny, the details of the short-listed candidates, together with the date and place of written test for the empanelment of Casual Urdu News Reader and Voice Over Artist will be up-loaded on the Doordarshan News website ddinews.gov.in. Thereafter the list of qualified persons on merit would also be up-loaded at aforesaid website intimating the date and time of Audition and interview.

           The list of the successful and empanelled candidates will be put up on the aforesaid website. All the applicants are, therefore, requested to check the website of this Office from time to time, on regular basis.

           Candidates should bring their valid identity cards at the time of written Test, Audition and /interview such as Voters Identity Card, Driving License, Passport/Employee Identity Card/ PAN Card etc.

           The written test for empanelement of Casual Urdu News Reader and Voice Over Artistes to judge the translation ability from English/Hindi to Urdu and knowledge skills of the language as well as of Current Affairs.

        Candidates securing 50% and above marks in written test will be called for an audition and those securing 50% and above in the audition test will be called for interview and only those securing 50% and above, in aggregate will be considered for empanelment. However, the total No. of candidates to be empanelled will be subject to the requirement of Doordarshan News.
